The Mission Fire Department continues to grow despite federal cuts and a valley wide drought.
Mission firefighters, do more than put out fires.
This team of firefighters, rescuers and EMS personnel is the go to team across the valley when it comes to assisting other agencies both local and federal in rescue missions.
Their dive team is called upon when bodies are thought to be trapped in irrigation canals and to recover bodies from the Rio Grande.
It was feared the sequester could affect the departments operations but as Chief Lopez told us this will not happen.
In fact the department will soon start training its medics in tactical response, that way they will be able to assist and respond alongside SWAT.
