South Texas, Second Most Notorious Area in the Nation for Medicare Fraud

According to the US Government, South Texas is the second most notorious area in the nation for medicare fraud, today different agencies took action here in the valley.

Today she is one of the hundreds elderly folks who attended this expo organized by the Better Business Bureau to inform them about medicare and medicaid fraud, financial exploitation and other crimes that affect them.

Representatives for more than 12 agencies were present today, including the attorney general’s office, adult protective services, the Texas Department on aging.

The Weslaco Police Department was also present and provided information on common techniques scammers and thieves use to get into their homes.

Seniors also learned about the most common scams on behalf of medicare providers, who frequently overcharge for services and medications that are not needed and are only to be used once in a lifetime.

Its important to be alert that medicare does not come to your home to try to sell you anything and always check your financial statements.
