In Hidalgo County, the FBI announced it will be investigating a state trooper’s controversial fatal shooting of illegal immigrants, following a pursuit in La Joya last year.
On October 25th 2012, a trooper from a Department of Public Safety helicopter, shot at a pickup truck believed to have been carrying drugs.
Two Guatemalan immigrants were killed and no drugs were found.
The consulate in McAllen has always been vigilant in demanding answers.
Caseraz added that she has continued to interview the seven remaining illegal immigrants in that truck, who have been detained since October.
The FBI has not commented on the matter.
