Chaos… at a community college near Houston, Texas…
sharon says: “once everyone heard the shots, it was a mini pandemonium of running.”
Gregoire says: “it was a lot of fear on campus. a lot of students trying to run towards the bookstore.”
A fight between two people… led to the shooting at the Lone Star College North Harris Campus… four people — including both who were involved in the altercation — taken to the hospital.
“The incident was not an active shooter incident, but was an altercation between two individuals. // there was maintenance man that was injured and shot due to friendly crossfire. also, there was another individual at the scene who was transported to the hospital, but we found for medical reasons.” says major Armando Tell, acting Harris County Sheriff
This is the fourth school shooting in the U-S since last month’s massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut… three of those four — occurring on college campuses… and although guns are not allowed on ollege campuses in Texas… the state legislature may debate a bill that would allow them this year.
Carpenter says: “we know that there is significant national dialogue regarding the frequency, unfortunately, of shootings like this on public school and college campuses. though we never expected to be a central part of this discussion, we hope that things can be learned from it,”
says Richard Carpenter, Chancellor, Lone Star College System
The two people involved in the fight are only ones being called persons of interest… police say they are looking for no other suspects… in Harris country, Texas, Casey.
