McAllen: Regional Detention Facilities closing early, after school activities cancelled

“Due to the potential for stormy weather The City of McAllen is closing the Regional Detention Facilities (RDFs), adjacent to school campuses, at 4 PM this afternoon..
We are conducting our after school program but we are calling parents to see if they can come get their children early. MISD is cancelling all after school activities due to the potential weather.”
McAllen ISD Weather Alert In response to severe weather forecast for late this afternoon and evening, student activities have been scaled back so that students and staff can head home immediately after school. All after-school non-UIL activities and practices have been cancelled. This includes the city after-school activities. All UIL sports, events and practices canceled this evening. High school basketball games are rescheduled for tomorrow.
