13-Year-Old Charged In Cousin’s Shooting Death

A 13-year-old boy faced manslaughter charges today in San Benito.

The charges stem from the accidental shooting death of his 18-year-old cousin.

At the Darrel B. Hester Juvenile Justice Center today, the alleged 13-year-old gunman recalled the day he shot his cousin, Ricardo Ramos, in the head.

According to the investigators, the boy says he did not know the rifle was loaded, the family says it was an accident and there are no hard feelings.

Ramos was taken to the hospital, where he died a few hours later.

The family tells FOX 2 news that the cousins were close and that the 13-year-old was shocked and inconsolable by his cousin’s death.
