As the war in Afghanistan is approaching its final year, recent numbers show that the number of Americans killed is on the decline.
More than 300 Americans have died so far this year in the war in Afghanistan. That’s down from a peak of nearly 500 Americans in 2010.
The U.S. Troop drawdown, and the expanding Afghan Army, is credited with leading the drop. President Obama announced in his first term that most American troops would leave Afghanistan by the end of 2014.
