Three Hidalgo School Board Candidates have filed a lawsuit today, following a ballot error elections department.

According to the Hidalgo County Elections officials, the voting problems stem from a faulty electoral map which allowed some Precinct 63 voters to cast ballots, even though they are not Hidalgo School District Residents.

According to the lawsuit, the votes allowed challenger Norma Garza-Torres to unseat incumbent Mentor Cantu. They argue that without the Precinct 63 votes, Cantu would have been re-elected.

The lawsuit wants the Precinct 63 votes nullified.
