Today in Mission, a teenager has been charged in the death of his younger brother.

It’s an accident many find hard to imagine. Being the alleged driver behind a crash, and fleeing the scene, leaving a brother and three others behind.

Obed Ozuna-Peña, 18 years old, was in court this afternoon, where a judge upgraded charges against him, after his 15-year-old brother Jesus succumbed to his injuries. He had been in the hospital in critical condition since the crash on Sunday, October 22nd.

Their family now faces the reality of having to say very different, but emotional goodbyes to their sons.

Pena now faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted. Prosecutors say he lost control of his Ford Mustang, exiting off Expressway 83 at Glasscock. The other passengers received non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say all of the passengers were teenagers, and weren’t wearing their seatbelts.
