New Details in DPS Shooting Case in La Joya

The McAllen Guatemalan Consulate claims the DPS helicopter was close enough to see passengers were inside in the truck when they opened fire by the area of Jara Chinas Road and Highway 107 on Thursday, killing two Guatemalan illegal immigrants.
Authorities have previously said a state trooper opened fire because they suspected the vehicle was carrying drugs.
A total of 10 passengers were in the smuggler’s truck, four in the cab, and six in the bed, covered with a sheet. However, DPS says the tarp covering the bed was consistent with drug smuggling. They added that the incident remains under investigation.
