Alleged Drunk Driver Arrested for Edinburg Hit-Run

A UTPA Student is out of the hospital, and the alleged drunk driver that hit her is behind bars, following a hit-and-run yesterday.

Authorities say the 18-year-old student was riding her bicycle at the intersection of Sugar and McIntyre at around 5:30 p.m., when Albertico Ibarra, 26 years old, ran through a stop sign, hitting her, and fled the scene.

Ibarra was arraigned this afternoon, and charged with driving while intoxicated, as well as failing to render aid. The student was released from the hospital in good condition.
