The alleged gunman behind a shooting that injured a teenage boy in the community known as “Mexico Chiquito” is now behind bars.

Juan Garcia, 17 years old, has been charged with aggravated assault, and was issued a $50,000 bond. Hidalgo County Sheriff’s say he, along with other suspects, were driving down the 300 block of West San Angelo Street in Alamo on Sunday, when they opened fire.

A 13-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen and was taken to McAllen Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Authorities believe Garcia is the gunman, but they are looking for the other suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call crime stoppers at 956-668-8477.
