On October 7th, four undocumented immigrants were killed and seven others in a rollover accident in Donna.

One of those deceased victims is Jose Santos Cedillo, 13 years old, from El Salvador. Today his mother Rodith Cedillo Sarmiento spoke to FOX 2 via telephone to share the story of his journey. She says Jose was living in El Salvador with her mother when he ran away to allegedly escape gang members that were trying to recruit him. Sarmiento says her son was trying to make it California where she lives. The last time she spoke to her son was when he made a call from Reynosa, Mexico not long before the fatal accident.

She is asking for the community’s help with moving his body back to his country. If you’d like to donate, call 831-435-8135.

Officials have identified two of the other three deceased victims as Jaime Alexander Romero Granados of El Salvador and Julio Cesar Ozuna Dominguez of Mexico.

Border Patrol also mentioned three of the seven injured remain in the hospital.
