A group of breast cancer survivors, patients, family members and supporters get together once a month to support their health and promote breast cancer awareness through dance.

Each month, the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg holds a Zumba workout class, taught by a breast cancer survivor.

“The class is free and open to the public. We do this for breast cancer survivors and their family,” said Carmen Mejia, Registered Nurse.

The Latin-dance inspired Zumba workout is growing in popularity across the nation. The exercise involves upbeat music and fast-paced dance moves catered to work out different parts of the body. Zumba also relieves stress for those coping with breast cancer.

It’s goal is to inspire hope for those fighting cancer and promote healthy lifestyles.

The next Zumba fitness class is Monday, October 15th at 6 p.m. at the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. Everyone is welcome.
