In Cameron County, where the alleged gunman in the weekend murder of a man in Brownsville is now under arrest.
Israel Lopez, 45 years old, was charged this morning in the murder of Ezequiel Perez, 28 years old. Lopez was already in Cameron County Jail on a parole violation. He was issued a $1-million bond.
Two others, Deborah Joanna Cantu and Benjamin Marfileno, 24 years old, were also placed under arrest. They are accused of disposing and tampering with crucial physical evidence. They were each issued a $150,000 bond.
Perez was shot in the chest early Sunday morning. Authorities say the whole incident stemmed from an argument between Lopez and Perez. The case remains under investigation.
