The City of Edinburg is going to get some much-needed help from FEMA after receiving a $3.6-million grant.

Officials made the announcement today. They say the money from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be used by the city and the University of Texas-Pan American to build two multi-use storm shelters.

Once complete, the 20,000-square foot dome-like structures will serve residents during medical emergencies. And aside from emergency use, it will also serve as community centers and classrooms.
