Man Accused of Attempting to Kidnap Teen at Gunpoint

In Hidalgo, a 16-year-old is safely home after a man tried kidnapping her at gunpoint while she walked home from school.

This is 21-year-old Carlo Labastida from Pharr. He was arrested this afternoon after allegedly trying to kidnap a 16-year-old girl. According to Hidalgo Police, the victim was walking home along Anaya Road around 1:30 this afternoon. When a man in a white Dodge Nitro started following her and telling her to get in the car. The girl ignored the vehicle until it made a u turn and the suspect displayed a gun and demanded that she get inside the vehicle. The girl then ran to nearby Valley View North Elementary School asking for help. Pharr P.D. was able to detain the subject at a nearby stripes and arrested him along with three other juveniles. Authorities say that a bb gun was found inside the vehicle.   The case is under investigation.
