Mercedes School Goes into Lockdown

We are told that the unidentified woman was driving on the 1400 block of South Georgia, when a man in another vehicle got out, displaying a firearm.
The woman took off and ran into the Mercedes Early Childhood Center at around 3:30 p.m., causing that school, as well as a nearby school, to go into immediate lockdown.
The schools were reopened in less than an hour. Authorities say the suspect was riding in a black Grand Prix, and was wearing a mask from the movie “Scream” during the assault.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call crime stoppers at 668-TIPS (8477).
