The 16-year-old boy allegedly involved in an auto-theft-turned shooting two weeks ago at a Pharr border crossing faced a judge today.

Prosecutors say the teenager, a Mexican National, tried crossing the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge into Mexico with a stolen pickup truck.

When an officer tried to conduct a traffic stop, the teen tried to flee and rear-ended another vehicle. The officer opened fire at the suspect, injuring him on the shoulder.

A judge ordered the suspect to return at a later date with a guardian, so a bond can be issued.
