Detained for Evading Arrest in Edinburg

Authorities arrested a man who tried to flee from police.

Michael Alonzo, 35 years old, put the pedal to the metal when officials from the department of public safety tried to chase him down.

The pursuit ended in a canal near Doolittle and FM 107 in Edinburg.

Alonzo was transported to a county detention center for the charge of evading arrest and his bond was set at $15,000.

The incident occurred Sunday afternoon.
