Border Binational Health Week

As in the past, this week allows the consulate to highlight routine and critical binational efforts in the Mexican-American community to raise awareness on disease control collaboration, disease surveillance, coordination, communication, joint health promotion and prevention and to address critical binational public health issues.
This year, they are highlighting the prevention of obesity and diabetes. For us, diabetes and heart disease continue to place an undue health burden, especially to persons with diabetes, but the emerging concern is children and women during pregnancy.
