Police Investigating Harlingen Double Murder, Attempted Suicide

Authorities received a call about a break-in at around 1 a.m. this morning. They say 29-year-old Sarah Maxwell Montemayor and 28-year-old Devan Leroy Haynes were inside the home, located on the 1000 block of East Polk, when Montemayor’s estranged husband, 34-year-old Omar Montemayor attempted to break in.
When officers arrived on scene both victims were shot to death. The estranged husband was taken to a hospital, for an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators say two firearms were recovered at the scene.
The alleged attacker remains in critical condition.
