A Weslaco school bus driver has been suspended, after a 4-year-old got caught in the door, and was dragged several feet yesterday.
It happened at around 5 p.m. at Mile 10 North and Mile 3 West. According to Department of Public Safety, the girl’s backpack got caught when the door closed, and the bus driver took off. Dragging her about three feet.
Luckily the girl only received minor scrapes and bruises; but school officials say it could have ended a lot worse.
The driver has been put unpaid leave while an investigation is conducted. Superintendent Alejandro says the suspension is standard procedure for these types of incidents.
