Authorities have released a photo of the suspect in Hidalgo County’s 15th Murder this year.

Around 5:30 am Sunday police were called to a Weslaco residence at the 2300 block of Kerp Street, where witnesses heard some gunfire and found a body in the middle of the road.

“At 5 am, I got a call that my husband’s body was just thrown there,” said Joahana Zamorano, Victim’s Wife, “and I had heard gun shots but never knew where they came from.”

Investigators say a family dispute over stolen property led to the death of 24-year-old Christian Gerardo Landa.

An autopsy report confirms he died from gunshot wounds and Hidalgo County Deputies have a murder warrant for his 21-year-old brother-in-law, Osiel Alberto Castaneda.

According to reports, Landa was shot repeatedly with an AK-47 in the torso after allegedly stealing his brother-in-law’s tires and wheels.

“I want justice to be done and for god to take him in his glory,” said Zamorano, “For him to rest in peace.”

Landa leaves behind an expecting wife and young boy.

Federal authorities are aware Castaneda may be in Mexico. If you have any information, contact Hidalgo County authorities at 668-8477.
