A fallen soldier will be coming home this weekend.
Chief Warrant Officer José Luis Montenegro was killed in Afghanistan. The Army Pilot’s helicopter was gunned down on September 5th. It was the 32-year-old Brownsville Native’s third deployment.
Montenegro’s body is expected to arrive Sunday at noon, at McAllen International Airport. According to the Hidalgo County Veteran’s Services, he will be taken to the San Juan Memorial Funeral Home.
Montenegro’s funeral will be Wednesday. He will be buried at the Rio Grande Valley state veteran’s cemetery. He is the 39th valley soldier to lose his life in the war.
