Man Sentenced 20 Years in Cousin’s Murder in Edinburg

A McAllen man convicted of murdering his cousin will be spending the next 20 years of his life behind bars.

Last Friday, 29-year-old Rogelio Maldonado Jr. was found guilty in the shooting death of Luis Manuel Gonzalez in June of 2011.

Prosecutors say Maldonado had lost a street fight with Gonzalez, when he pulled out a gun, shooting his cousin at the intersection of 26th Street and Dallas Avenue.

They say the entire incident stemmed from a family dispute.
