Crews are busy capping a gas rupture at a construction site in Pharr.
A viewer called FOX 2, reporting the leak at around 7:30 p.m., at the intersection of Sam Houston and 281.
The area was evacuated and roads were cordoned off; as fire crews were busy at the scene putting out the fumes spewing into the air, causing a hazardous situation for residents in the surrounding area.
Pharr authorities say one business in the area was shut down as a precaution.
Witnesses say the natural gas line was ruptured while construction crews were working the area. But it’s unclear what exactly lead to the leak. The gas is a fire hazard, and we’re told crews were quick to act and cut off the gas line in the area. And that it is under control.
No injuries have been reported. We’ll stay on top of this and bring you the very latest, when it becomes available.
