Authorities say Freddy Fernandez was evading police after robbing $100 worth of food from a Port Isabel business. The erratic pursuit spanned 20 miles on Highway 48, requiring the mobilization of multiple agencies, ending on Highway 511 in Brownsville.
Investigators say this was the second time Fernandez targeted the business. He faces charges of robbery, resisting arrest, and assault of a public servant. Fernandez was issued a $38,000 bond.
