Man Charged in Cousin’s Murder

A McAllen man charged in the shooting death of his cousin faced a judge. Prosecutors say a street fight between the two, quickly escalated into murder.

The Hidalgo County Assistant District Attorney says Rogelio Maldonado Jr.  shot Luis Manuel Gonzalez in June of 2011, after losing a fist fight, that stemmed from a family dispute.

Maldonado has plead not guilty to the murder charge. The defense argues that there are inconsistencies with how police handled the investigation.
