Brownsville Shooting Update

A Brownsville man has been charged in a shooting that sent another man to the hospital yesterday.

Authorities say 27-year-old Francisco Antonio Romero approached a group on the 100-block of West Saint Charles Street at around 4:30 p.m., firing several rounds.

The victim was struck once in the leg and taken to valley medical hospital. His injuries are non-life threatening.

Romero was issued a $100,000 bond. Investigators say the shooting stems from an auto theft earlier this month. That is still under investigation.
