Foxrio2.com is not responsible for any misunderstanding.Moments of tension today in the 93rd District Court. Maria Almaguer was found guilty of four counts. Manslaughter, murder, intentionally or knowingly causing injury to a child and intentionally or knowingly causing injury to a child by omission.
She originally faced a charge for capital murder, but that was reduced to manslaughter for lack of evidence of intent.
Nevertheless, family members of Maria Almaguer say this has been an injustice.
“It’s unjust that everyone that testified in court against her lied, and it could be proven that they lied. But they want to blame someone,” said David Almaguer, Maria’s Brother.
“There was no evidence, emotions they put a lot of emotions in their case, but no evidence. With my eyes shut, I believe my sister,” said Helena Almaguer, Maria’s Sister.
However, the paternal family of baby Isaias, says everything changed once he went under the care of his mother.
“He lost weight, he was always bruised, supposedly because of accidents,” said Karen Alvarez, Baby’s Paternal Aunt.
The Paternal Aunt adds that there will never be justice for what she says Maria did. She denies truth in some arguments made by the defense.
“They said she couldn’t kick because her foot was hurt, but she kicked me and my mother a little before the child was killed,” said Karen.
The defense anticipates an appeal.
