A Local Promotions Company Files Lawsuit Against Fighter Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao, one of the most famous fighters in the world, was involved in a very different fight today taking place in us district court here in McAllen.

There he is the Pacman himself in a video dated 2 years ago this August, expressing his excitement to come visit us here in the valley.

Today Manny Pacquiao had his lawyers putting on the gloves today in federal court. The case involves a dispute over a contract agreement between Pacquiao and RGV promotions company Imperial Ed Productions. It’s a contract that would have brought Pacquiao to the valley in September of 2010, after Pacquiao received payment in installments totaling $200,000.

Pacquiao’s Defense Team is disputing the agreement, specifically in regards to Pacquiao not being paid in full and a discrepancy in with Imperial Ed Promotions company name not including the acronym LLC, designating it a limited liability company.

And Co-partner with the Imperial Ed Promotions company Salvador Avilez is seeking damages upwards of one million dollars for alleged failure to appear.

U.S. District Judge Richard Hinojosa said in court today that he needs to determine the validity of recently submitted agreement and assumption documents before touching upon any other aspects of the lawsuit.

Pacquiao’s Team is set to return to district court with depositions and a forensic report to determine the validity of document evidence. After that the judge will determine whether or not to pursue the lawsuit. That date is set for November 9th.
