Authorities released a couple surveillance images of the incident.

Around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon, the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department received calls about a kidnapping at JR Tire Shop by 3 Mile Line and Tom Gill Road in the Peñitas area.

The man kidnapped has been identified as 22-year-old Juan Cantu, the business owner’s son.

Reports indicate three suspects entered the shop for Juan Cantu, who struggled to get away. Two of them wore full face masks but a third was caught showing half of his face with a bandana. All three criminals were armed.

According to official reports, employees at the tire shop called in the abduction.

The victim was taken in a light blue Ford Explorer shown in the photos.

This was done in front of witnesses and JR Tire Shop employees.

Unofficially, it is believed the criminals are asking the family for ransom.

Authorities are searching for the criminals and suspect. Investigators are working to determine a possible motive behind this violent act.
