Man Arrested for Attempted Bank Robbery

Authorities say 40-year-old Gerardo Mendez walked into a Wells Fargo Bank on Southmost Road, demanding $5,000. He was unsuccessful in that attempt, but managed to steal a ring at Torres Gold jewelry on east 26th Street.
Police were able to track Mendez, due to an ID card he left at the bank. He was arrested at his home, and charged accordingly.
