Man gets 15 Years for Killing Girlfriend in Edinburg

An Edinburg judge sentenced 24-year-old Sergio Osvaldo Garcia to 15 years in prison yesterday, following his guilty plea that same day.
In January, Garcia intentionally ran over 17-year-old Jililah Rivas with his Ford Expedition. The Elsa High School Senior had gotten into an argument with Garcia outside a party, when she began walking on the side of the road. She was on the phone with her mother, when investigators believe she was struck by Garcia’s vehicle.
Garcia was initially charged with murder, but after his guilty plea, it was reduced to manslaughter charge.
