School Crosswalk Safety Training in Mission

Today in mission, there was a special training for school staff to protect those young pedestrians at crosswalks.
During the last school year, two students, in separate incidents, were hit by vehicles at Castro Elementary on Mayberry Road. Fortunately they weren’t seriously injured.
Today, the Mission Police Department said they are taking extra measures to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
A two-hour course training was given to staff members from Mission and Sharyland School Districts. In the U.S., statistics show that almost 300 students are killed a year in vehicular accidents near school and 15,000 are injured.
