Authorities came across nearly 700 pounds of narcotics during a home search.

Pharr police received calls at 8:30 Friday morning about shots fired near a canal bank on the 400 block of Darlene Avenue. A caller claimed they were shot at by someone driving a green Jeep.

Once police spotted the vehicle on saint john’s street, the suspect, 29-year-old Jesus Treviño, fled on foot.

He then broke into a home on Jacobo Street and started ransacking the place while a woman was there.

Police detained him and took him back to his residence on the 100 block of Saint John’s.

Upon inspection of his home, police seized 678 pounds of marijuana, two adult females and children.

Police say the children are in the custody of child protective services due to the sanitary condition they were in.

Trevino is facing a total of five charges burglary of habitation, possession of marijuana, tampering with identification numbers, evading arrest, and possession of a controlled substance.

FOX 2 will stay on top of this case as it remains under investigation.
