A Weslaco man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to killing his wife and her 12-year-old sister, while his children were in the other room.
Raul Garza, 24-years-old, was sentenced to life in prison, without the possibility of parole, for the capital murders. Prosecutors say on May 5th, he choked and stabbed his wife Veronica Serrano-Rivera to death, as well as raped and killed her 12-year-old sister Elisa Rivera.
Garza kidnapping his neighbor following the attacks. She managed to escape, and led police to the bodies.
Garza’s three children were kept in a room for almost two days after the murders. That’s when authorities found them walking on the road unattended.
Prosecutors say the attack stemmed from an argument over his cocaine addiction.
