City of Pharr Might Prohibit Texting

Members of the city council approved the first reading of the ordinance and unanimously voted to move it along to the Pharr City Council. If approved, the ordinance would prohibit texting and driving, but still allow for talking on the phone.
The ordinance would make texting and driving a primary offense, meaning a law enforcement officer can stop a car and issue a citation for texting while driving.
