In other news, the City of Edinburg has approved an ordinance that increases restriction on registered sex offenders.
The city council unanimously agreed to prohibit registered sex offenders from loitering near schools or child-oriented facilities, even if they completed their probation and parole. The ordinance also requires them to stay indoor on Halloween night, even placing a sign outdoors that says “no candy.”
Each violation carries a $2,000 fine. The ordinance extends current state restrictions of registered sex offenders.
