In Cameron County, officials are investigating the brutal murder of a teen by an alleged dangerous gang member.
On Sunday morning, 14-year-old Sergio Andres Ramirez from Houston knocked on the wrong door by accident, which led to responses from the offender who stabbed him at least three times, causing his death.
The suspect 29-year-old José Miguel Mireles has been arrested for crimes of murder, evading and resisting arrest.
Mireles was arrested at his Brownsville residence at 6811 Greystone Street after a witness identified him as the aggressor. He has a criminal history and is a member of the prison gang “The Vallucos”.
Authorities cannot confirm the assault or why the victim was there.
Mireles remains in custody with half a million dollar bail. During an interview, Mireles admitted responsibility for this violent murder.
New details reveal Mireles’ family member could face charges for allegedly destroying evidence. She is accused of throwing the knife into an artificial water reservoir that authorities are now trying to recover.
