Consulates Promote Scholarships

The Mexican Consulate in Brownsville has joined the program known as “Proyecto I.M.E. Becas”.

Fifty consulates have joined forces to raise $3 million for scholarships.

These scholarships would be for Mexican Nationals who study in the U.S.

Since 2005, the Mexican Consulate has taken measure to bring financial assistance to Mexican students who may have trouble making ends meet.

Currently, only 25 states in the U.S. are receiving these funds.

The 2012 campaign is being conducted through text message.

You can donate $5 by texting the word “becas”, which means “scholarships” in Spanish, to 20222. Or for a $10 donation you can text the word “estudia”, which means “study”, to 20222.
