Major drug busts in Starr County netted over $2.7-million worth of marijuana yesterday.
Check out these shots of one of those major busts in Escobares. A smuggler was evading border agents, when they plunged their minivan into the Rio Grande. The driver was able to swim to Mexico, but authorities were able to pull the vehicle our the river and seize over 1,100 pounds of marijuana.
That same day, Granjeno agents also seized over 11-pounds of marijuana in a pickup truck. The driver and the passenger were able to flee to Mexico.
With several other smaller seizures, the total amount totaled to more than 3,500 pounds of the narcotics.
