Walk-a-thon & “Fill the Bus”
This article was published 9 months 28 days ago which may make its actuality or accuracy no longer valid. Foxrio2.com is not responsible for any misunderstanding. Our sister station Univision Channel 48 hosted their first walkathon event called “Unete al Reto”, which means “join the challenge” at McAllen’s Fireman’s Park. This is part of a campaign to promote health and well-being for everyone. We all know eating well is just part of being healthy. And if you’re like most, working out with a friend or in a group motivates you and helps keep you going. So dozens of people gathered to walk together. Some brought pets. Others brought family members. We enjoyed a nice breeze. It was a great event. Our sister station says they are working on making this a monthly event. Of course, we will keep you updated.
It is never too late to start working on your health. After all, health matters.
Speaking of events and campaigns, I want to invite you to be part a of our FOX 2 News event “Fill the Bus”. School supply donations keep pouring in at our FOX 2 News Studios as part of our annual campaign for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Rio Grande Valley.
We are taking your donations and will remain so up until our “Fill the Bus” event orrow, Thursday the 26th. If you drop off five brand new school supplies will get you a peek at a morning presentation with Austin Mahone at the Pharr Convention Center. Mahone, a 16-year-old San Antonio Native, is the youngest artist to make it to the Billboard Top 50 Charts. He’s called the second coming of Justin Beiber.
You can drop off those new supplies at our studio orrow from
7 a.m. To 7 p.m.
801 North Jackson Road in McAllen, TX
Let’s go back to the main point. These school supplies benefit local families in great need.
Earlier today we met up with McAllen’s Boys and Girls Club Development Director Daisy Hinojosa who tells us more about how you can make an impact in the RGV.
“Unfortunately, 90% of our kids come from single parents and cannot afford to buy school supplies this coming year,” said Daisy Hinojosa, McAllen B&G Club Development Director.
