New Brownsville Police Chief

City Manager Charlie Cabler announced the unanimous decision this afternoon. It isn’t a new role for Rodriguez, he’s served as the interim chief since December, when former Police Chief Carlos Garcia resigned to take on the title of Port of Brownsville Security Director.
Rodriguez has spent 30 years in law enforcement. He will head a police force of nearly 250 officers, 85 civil employees and a budget of more than $29-million.
