Fatal Shooting North of San Carlos, TX

Neighbors in a community north of San Carlos woke up to shots being fired this morning.
Authorities confirmed they received a call around 7:45am about a man being gunned down at a residence on Mile 19 West of Valverde Road. Upon arriving, they found him dead of a gunshot wound. Another man at the scene also received minor injuries and he was taken in to be questioned as a person of interest. Officials are still trying to piece this investigation together.
As of now they have ruled out the possibility that this was a home invasion and are talking to the person of interest and the homeowner, who was not at the scene at the time of the homicide, to see if the victim and the shooter knew each other. Neighbors say they are concerned because this is the latest shooting to happen in this area in a short period of time.
Authorities obtained a search warrant for the property and spent most of the day combing through the crime scene.
