In Cameron County, where two men are under arrest for making fake license plates.
Ramiro Sanchez and Victor Salinas were arrested by Brownsville Police. Investigators say the duo has an illegal operation that offered counterfeit temporary tags at a low cost.
The counterfeit plates were valid for 45 days, to allow for the transfer of title and payment of taxes.
Sanchez and Salinas are charged with falsifying documents, and her issued a $10,000 bond. Authorities urge car buyers to verify the titles of a vehicle before purchase, to avoid being a victim to a fraudulent scheme.
