Employee Dies in Port of Brownsville Accident

A Port of Brownsville Employee lost his life this morning while on the clock. The Port of Brownsville did not allow media to get near the scene of the accident.

According to Manuel Ortiz, Port of Brownsville Spokesperson, the incident was reported at 9:30 in the morning.

The victim is identified as 57-year-old José Adrian Badillo, who died after being run over by an asphalt steam roller. Preliminary information indicates Badillo was working as a mechanic under the company RG Waldors Machinery, which is rented by the Port of Brownsville.

Manuel Ortiz, Port of Brownsville Spokesperson, said the investigation is being headed by Cameron County Sheriff’s Department.

Justice of the Peace Linda Salazar requested an autopsy to determine his physical condition at the time of the incident.

The state agency OSHEA will investigate internally to see if the company was operating under proper safety standards.
