Man Arrested for Allegedly Starting Combes, TX Fire

One of the largest fires this year took place in Combes yesterday right off of Highway 77. Four fire departments were needed to contain the blaze. Today, officials released more information about the man accused of starting it all.

FOX 2 Reporter Laura Cavazos has more.

Today police gave more information regarding the blaze that consumed 6 acres and caused Highway 77 to temporary close. Authorities from Combes arrested Efrain Garcia for allegedly initiating a fire that got out of control. It consumed 6 acres behind a recycling center where vehicles were stored causing explosions.

Reports indicate that the fire accidentally got out of control when a worker burned some branches, now he will be facing criminal charges.

The Combes Chief of Police decided not to comment on this case at the time of our request. Before burning trash or branches. Authorities are asking valley residents to acquire the required permits.
