Reoccurring Wal-Mart Robberies in Peñitas, TX

Authorities are reporting that there is a new technique that thieves are using to commit crimes.

Victoria Acosta-Rubio tells us what police in Peñitas are admonishing would-be thieves.

Sergeant Andres Martinez with Peñitas Police says they’ve already had 3 robberies of this nature in the past few weeks. And none of the alleged thieves live in that city.

The last incident occurred on Wednesday at Wal-Mart, according to police, 33-year-old Rosalinda Martinez filled a shopping bag with about $600-worth of children’s clothing and walked out with it. She was formally charged with theft and given a $5,000 bond.

Another incident occurred last Sunday, when this man identified as 42-year-old Hugo Balderas, walked out of the store with an Xbox 360 system and headphones. Merchandise worth up to $900. He was also formally charged with theft, a class a misdemeanor and given a bond of $10,000. For this crime, the suspects could spend up to one year in prison.
